How to troubleshoot 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser ECU Controlled Systems
A large number of ECU controlled systems are used in the 2007 Toyota FJ CRUISER. In general, ECU controlled systems are considered to be very intricate, requiring a high level of technical knowledge to troubleshoot. However, most problem checking procedures only involve inspecting the ECU controlled system’s circuits one by one. An adequate
understanding of the system and a basic knowledge of electricity is enough to perform effective troubleshooting, accurate diagnoses and necessary repairs.
For Using Intelligent Tester:
Connect the cable of the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3, turn the ignition switch ON and attempt to use the tester. If the display indicates that a communication error has occurred, there is a problem either with the vehicle or with the tester. If communication is normal when the tester is connected to another vehicle, inspect the DLC3 of the original vehicle. If communication is still not possible when the tester is connected to another vehicle, the problem may be in the tester itself.

recently a gas station attendant put diesel fuel in my 2007 Toyota F.J. cruiser gasoline tank. cost me five hundred to have the whole system replaced. problem is that now the indicator, engine warning lights keep lighting. I disconnect the battery cable and they cycle off, but in two or three days they light up again. I am told I have to take it to the dealer in Panama City, Panama for very expensive repairs. Any alternative out there? I am retired here in Panama and the car service business is built on “screw the gringo”. However, I don’t want to further harm the engine by driving it. It runs just fine, no problems except the recurring warning lights. This 2007 has only 13,000 miles on it. I bought it new and I am the primary person driving it. ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED. BY THE WAY….I WOULD SELL IT IF YOU WANT TO SHIP IT FROM PANAMA.
