2011 Volvo XC60 Battery Removal and Installation Guide

Prior removing the Volvo XC60 battery, switch off the ignition and wait at least 5 minutes before disconnecting the battery so system can be stored in the control modules. To remove the 2011 Volvo XC60 battery do the followings:

  1. Open the clips on the front cover and remove the cover.
  2. Release the rubber moulding so that the rear cover is free.
  3. Remove the rear cover by pulling it away.
  4. Detach the black negative cable.
  5. Detach the red positive cable.
  6. Detach the ventilation hose from the battery.
  7. Loosen the screw holding the battery clamp.
  8. Move the battery to the side and lift it up.

To install the 2011 Volvo XC60 battery, follow below instructions:

  1. Lower the battery into the battery box.
  2. Move the battery inward and to the side until it reaches the rear edge of the box.
  3. Screw in the battery with the screw in the clamp.
  4. Connect the ventilation hose.
  5. Connect the red positive cable.
  6. Connect the black negative cable.
  7. Press in the rear cover.
  8. Reinstall the cold section moulding.
  9. Reinstall the front cover and secure it with the clips.

  1. Step 7. Loosen the screw holding the battery clamp.
    This step is not a “screw” but a 10mm bolt and if your broke down with a dead battery, ten to one, it’s not in your driveway so having a 10mm wrench with a 8″ extension is a long shot…for most.
    Step 8. Go back to Sears and spend another 50.00 bucks on top of the 180.00 for the battery, for the right tools.
