2011 Volvo XC60 Battery Removal and Installation Guide
Prior removing the Volvo XC60 battery, switch off the ignition and wait at least 5 minutes before disconnecting the battery so system can be stored in the control modules. To remove the 2011 Volvo XC60 battery do the followings:
- Open the clips on the front cover and remove the cover.
- Release the rubber moulding so that the rear cover is free.
- Remove the rear cover by pulling it away.
- Detach the black negative cable.
- Detach the red positive cable.
- Detach the ventilation hose from the battery.
- Loosen the screw holding the battery clamp.
- Move the battery to the side and lift it up.
To install the 2011 Volvo XC60 battery, follow below instructions:
- Lower the battery into the battery box.
- Move the battery inward and to the side until it reaches the rear edge of the box.
- Screw in the battery with the screw in the clamp.
- Connect the ventilation hose.
- Connect the red positive cable.
- Connect the black negative cable.
- Press in the rear cover.
- Reinstall the cold section moulding.
- Reinstall the front cover and secure it with the clips.

Step 7. Loosen the screw holding the battery clamp.
This step is not a “screw” but a 10mm bolt and if your broke down with a dead battery, ten to one, it’s not in your driveway so having a 10mm wrench with a 8″ extension is a long shot…for most.
Step 8. Go back to Sears and spend another 50.00 bucks on top of the 180.00 for the battery, for the right tools.
