The 1998 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Accelerator Cable Check and Adjustment Procedure
Below procedure outlines accelerator cable check and adjustment in the 1998 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport:
- Turn OFF the Air Conditioning and lamps. Vehicle should be without load during inspection and adjustment.
- Warm the engine until stabilized at idle.
- Confirm idle speed is at the below values. Standard value: <4D5> 750 +/- 100 r/min; <6G7> 700 +/- 100 r/min
- Stop engine (ignition switch OFF position)
- Confirm there are no sharp bends in accelerator cable.
- Check inner cable for correct slack. Standard value: 1 – 2 mm
- If there is too much slack or no slack, adjust play by following the below steps.
- Loosen the lock nut and fully close the throttle lever.
- Tighten the adjusting nut until immediately before the throttle lever starts to move.
- By loosening the adjusting nut one turn, the accelerator cable play will be brought to the standard value.
- Fix the adjusting nut with the lock nut
- After adjusting, check that the throttle lever is touching the stopper.
